Pieter Geelen is a co-founder of TomTom and a technologist whose work helped establish navigation and digital mapping as essential components of modern mobility.
In 1991, Geelen joined Harold Goddijn, Corinne Vigreux, and Peter Frans Pauwels in founding the company in Amsterdam that would become TomTom. Drawing on his background in software development, he played a critical role in shaping the technologies that powered TomTom’s early navigation solutions and later supported the company’s expansion into consumer and automotive navigation systems.
TomTom’s navigation devices and mapping platforms changed how drivers plan routes and travel, bringing accurate digital navigation into everyday driving while helping pave the way for advanced automotive navigation and connected vehicle systems now used globally.
Beyond TomTom, Geelen has supported philanthropic initiatives focused on education, conservation, and social development, extending the impact of his entrepreneurial success beyond technology.
Through his work, Geelen helped build technologies that continue to influence navigation and mobility worldwide.
